The Ride


The Bottega Gran Fondo will boast the customary “mass start” – but what sets Chef’s ride apart (aside from some of the best roads in the world) is the team element. When registering, participants will have the choice to join a celebrity team of your choice – Chefs, Somms, Pro-Riders. This isn’t a race but a rally of like-minded riders. Choose the 75 or 40-mile course: both beautiful, challenging, and will know we shout – “we ride to eat!”

Two course distances are available at the Bottega Gran Fondo: 40 and 75 mile courses. Each beautiful. Each challenging. The longer route is a tad more challenging but well worth the ride as the course heads across the valley floor to western portion of Napa Valley, up Mt. Veeder.

The ride begins through the streets of Yountville, curves along the most picturesque Yount Mill Road, until the right-turn onto route 29 north. (Single file please on highway 29). Three miles north, and the group turns right again onto Rutherford Cross road, past the wineries Round Pond, Honig, Frog’s Leap and other highly touted Napa Valley favorites, heading over to the famous Silverado Trail heading north to Howell Mountain.

Get ready (and ride hard), as you will be served up the best homegrown, homemade pastas, pizzas and specialty platters your taste buds will ever encounter. (Seconds and thirds are welcome). Plus join the food bonanza with mouthwatering cooking demos during this rockstar weekend.

Spend Saturday April 25th in Yountville at our Mercato. The afternoon will be a blend of food – Chef Demos, wine – a tasting tent and a sampling of our key partners and sponsors. From olive oil, to chocolate, to the best of Chef Chiarello’s favorite cycling “supplies”, plan to have a few sips and some fun mingling with our fondo VIP guests and meeting some of your fellow cycling “teammates.”

VIP dinner


Saturday evening is time to raise your glass, and acknowledge a few causes close to Chef Chiarello, and significant to the Napa Valley. It’s also a moment to mingle with the Masters – gab with the celebrity guests – and feel good that your financial support this evening goes to three important non-profit organizations.

Along with a four-course dinner, a bevy of the best wines in the world, the evening will conclude with a silent auction. (Want a new Pinarello – then we suggest you get out your pen.) After the dinner and dessert, it’s time to head down the street to a special screening  presented by the Napa Valley Film Festival.

LIVE FIRE Sunday Luncheon


A post ride lunch Chiarello style is not a push of the blender revving up a protein shake; in fact it’s entirely the opposite. Think fire – the original cooking method. A live fire transforms the meal into a gathering, whether you are cooking for two or two hundred. According to Chef, “Italians know this at a cellular level. Ask any Italian, any time of day, if he would rather cook and eat outdoors or inside and you’ll get a “whaddya kidding me?” kind of look. Outdoors!” The LIVE FIRE luncheon is about big long family style tables in which you sit, savor and sip – Italian style. Hours on the bike deserve hours at the table with family, friends – old and new.
